CV Shanmugam, district secretary of All India Anna Dravid’s Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and senior member of the party’s election advisory board, will contest from Bilupuram assembly constituency in the next elections.
RK will face Laxmanan from Shanmugam seat. Laxman was also a former Rajya Sabha member of the AIADMK and recently joined the DMK party. Hindu.

He was the Minister of State for Education, Law and Commercial Taxes from 2003 to 2006 and J., former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from 2001 to 2002.
His father was a Member of Parliament from Bandhavasi constituency.
