In the 2018 Assembly elections, Jahanara Khan of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) won the Jamuria Assembly constituency. He won with 67,724 votes, compared to 599,457 votes cast by V Shiv Dashan (Dasu), the main rival of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).
In the 2011 assembly elections, Jahanara Khan of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) won the Jamuria seat, defeating Prabhat Kumar Chatterjee of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).
