In the 2016 assembly elections, Congress’ Abu Hena All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) Chand Mohammad Jita was elected to power with 4,633 votes out of 1,00,110 votes. He lost by a margin of 53,475 votes.
The Congress retained the seat in 2011 as well. Abu Hena CPI said. He fought against Ayan Ali and was declared the winner with 7444,317117 votes. As runner-up, Ali lost by 16,184 votes or 11.32 percent of the vote.
