Durgapur West Assembly constituency is located in West Burdwan district. It is a part of Burdwan-Durgapur Lok Sabha constituency.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Bishwanath Paryal of the Indian National Congress (INC) won the Durgapur West Assembly constituency. He got 106,709 votes against his latest rival Apurba Mukherjee, the main rival of the Trinamool Congress (AITC).

In the 2011 assembly elections, Apurba Mukherjee of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) won the Durgapur West seat by defeating Biprendu Kumar Chakraborty of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Voting for the 30 seats in two Bengalis will begin on March 3 and the final election for the West Bengal Assembly will be held in seven phases.
